White Sage and Purple Sinuata

If you’re new to smudging, it may seem overwhelming at first, but it’s rather simple. Don’t over stress. Note: If it is your first time and you’re taking on a large project like removing several negative spirits from a house, furniture, or a person, you may wish to consider extra help. Begin by cracking a window or door (I don’t recommend a door if you have pets. Windows are just as good) on one end of the house. One end of your sage stick will be more leafy, while the other contains more sticks. Use a lighter to light the leafy end (this just makes it easier to light the first time). After the flames catch and the leaves start to smoke, blow it out! Imagine you’re lighting an incense stick. You don’t need enough for the smoke detector, just get a little smoke going. Use a feather or small fan to gently whoosh the smoke into every corner of the room — under tables, beds, in closets, ect.

If you’re setting Circle for ritual or a mediation, start at the center of your space and work outwards, to the window.

If you’re doing a house cleanse, start in one room and slowly push outwards to the open window. Imagine you’re chasing a cat out of the house. The “cat” will hide in anything it can, but it can Not go anywhere the sage smoke has been. Allow the “cat” a pathway to get out, but seal all hiding spaces behind it. Always circle out, towards a window or door, so that you do not trap the “cat” inside a room or closet.

Very last for each room, trace the edge of the window/ door with the smoke and make a crisscross pattern over it so the “cat” can’t get back in. Work your way to the other end of the house, ending at that final window you opened earlier.

Your Sage stick can be used again! Grind the lit tip out on an abalone shell, a cauldron, or something non-flammable. Next time you need it, simply relight the burnt end.

Purple Sinuata and White Sage - besides being a gorgeous purple and adding a nice flowery smell, Purple Sinuata adds an extra boost of enchantment, magic, and spirituality. This combo cleanses and raises the vibration at the same time, making it ideal for Ritual, Circle, and meditation. Natural, chemical-free, superpowered incense!

White Sage is the most well known. White Sage is perfect for releasing, cleansing, dispelling, and protecting. It’s calming and great for meditative work. If you have a negative feeling, pent up fear or anger, or feel like there’s… something else in the house with you, it’s time to light the sage up!!

Desert Sage aka Blue Sage aka Grandmother Sage has a much more mild smell than White Sage. This is especially useful if someone in your house doesn’t like the smell of sage, if you live in a very small apartment and don’t want an overwhelming smell, or if you yourself love the properties of sage but just don’t enjoy the White Sage smell. Blue Sage is still a great energetic cleanser, offering a more soothing sensation, like a cool breeze over an open plain. It’s helpful for rituals of abundance, meditation, and healing, especially when you or someone in your household is sick.

Rosemary and White Sage Rosemary is great for grief and sadness. If a loved one has recently passed, or if you’re having a hard time letting go, Rosemary offers a comforting embrace, helping to release pent-up emotional tension and pain. It draws in Guardian Angels to wipe your tears and help you move forward. This stick combines the two powers; this is especially good if there has been a loss and those left on the physical plain have been fighting about it. It’s also good when shortly before or after the loss, a new entity or feeling started hanging around a person or the house, and won’t leave.

Dragons Blood Sage starts off as White Sage, which is then soaked in natural plant resin from trees called Dragon Trees; their sap is deep red, which gives the sap the name Dragon’s Blood. The sap is absorbed into the dried leaves, staining them red and leaving both the smell and healing properties of the tree sap behind. Dragons Blood is highly sought after as a natural healer. In addition, it’s useful for increasing the strength of spells and manifestations, love (both internal and external), and sexuality. And, since it started as White Sage, it still retains those properties as well.

Palo Santo is another alternative to sage. In Spanish, Palo Santo means “Holy Wood”. Palo Santo sticks are mainly used to treat stress and anxiety, but can be used much like regular sage to cleanse old & negative energies from a person, space, or crystals. Ethically harvested from naturally fallen branches.
